Best Burger in Dublin?
(Date:20 July 2011)
The humble hamburger patty, deriving from the city of Hamburg in Germany has become one of the best known foodstuffs in the world!
Everyone enjoys a delicious slab of beef wrapped between two buns with a token salad garnish now and again, but the battle has been raging in the office over what's the best burger in Dublin.
Generally accepted positives are good beef, quality tomato ketchup (none of that artificial stuff!!), and nice cheese, but we've almost came to blows over the decision of whether to have gherkins, lettuce, what dressing etc, so help us settle the argument!

A couple of options which have been thrown up include Gourmet Burger Kitchen, originally a UK chain, and with venues all over the Dublin area. We're regular in the Sth. Anne Street branch, and a favourite of the team is the Jamaican burger (mango and ginger sauce is delish!).
Gourmet Burger Co. in Dublin 6 is another one we've been debating over. Jonathan and team take great pride in serving the best beef to the often fussy Ranelagh dining set, and they even offer Wagyu beef too (beef of Japanese origins from the best pampered cows in the world!). They've also got a deadly lunch deal (€9.95), plus, both of the above have mylunch 2 for 1s in place too! Tasty!
An old fave for burger lovers is Captain Americas, who once again have a €9.95 lunch deal and a deadly American style burger!
Finally for today, and new on site, is another claimant to the crown, The Counter on Suffolk Street. An American chain, The Counter is a novelty, in that you can literally build your own burger yourself! If you want mango, gherkin, pineapple and garlic mayo, and no bun, well you've got it! You'll be greated at the door with a clipboard, and you simply tick off what you want on your creation, it's that simple! With a full drinks menu, and deadly €5 cocktails too, it's a real social occasion! (Oh, and there's a new lunch menu here too!)
Their claim to fame is that there are over 312,120+ different burger combinations (god help whoever counted those up) and every burger is as unique as each customer. Rarely is the same burger made twice in one day it seems!
So, we're sure there are many more options, including good old McDonald's (can't beat a Big Mac every time!), so you tell us, what do you think is the best burger in Dublin? If you're answer is good, you may win a prize!
