Follow the Tapas Trail
Follow the Tapas Trail
(Date:01 June 2011)
The Spanish sure did get one up on us in the food stakes there! Fortunately for us and you though, Dublin nowadays is a bastion of good Spanish food, and there are numerous Latin flavoured eateries around the city which one can imagine wouldn't feel out of place in a dusty Basque town!
We at mylunch like to channel some Spanish custom by taking a traditional siesta daily (lasting from 2pm to about 4.30, but don't tell our boss eh?), but now you too can sample the Spanish way, without the chance of being fired for sleeping on the job!
Campo Viejo, the Rioja wine brand from Spain's most famous wine region (around since 1959), have joined forces with 5 of Dublin's Top Tapas Restaurants, and for the month of June, they are holding a Fiesta de Tapas Trail every single Wednesday eve and Saturday afternoon!
The trail will visit five top tapas venues around Dublin including Bar Pinxto, The Port House, Salamanca Dame Street, Salamanca St Andrews Street and Havana Tapas Bar, during which time the event participants will stop off for 30 minutes, en masse, at each of the five featured venues, where they will be presented with the venues best three tapas.
Participants will enjoy one delicious tapa from each selection and each restaurant will serve a measure of Campo Viejo to accompany. To bring the traditional Spanish theme to life participants will also be treated to a surprise entertainment element from flamenco, to Spanish guitar to the head chef giving a talk on the provenance of the tapas being served.
Sounds fantastico no? The event is based around capturing the atmosphere and essence of a Spanish Tapas Trail and transporting participants right to the heart of the action. As you may know, tapas are a very social way of eating, and they are made to be shared and enjoyed, in great company and locations!
The Campo Viejo Tapas Trail is a celebration of this tradition, which you shouldn't miss out on, and the best part of the whole thing is that the fee for the trail is a mere €20! Delicious rioja wine, tapas, and entertainment all included in that price is amazing value!
Shane and Steve from the mylunch team will be joining the trail during the month at some stage, and if you want to book too, just go
to www.facebook.com/campoviejoireland
It's as simply as that!
Oh, and by the way, if you enjoy the event, or if you like tapas and Spanish food generally, then why not see our current Salamanca offer, Buy One, Get One Half Price on a lunch main! Delicioso!
