Pooch Friendly Lunch
Pooch Friendly Lunch
(Date:30 May 2011)
You may have seen in the news on Friday the photo of a lovely shaggy terrier dog using a laptop and wondered, what's this all
about?!
Well, The Dylan Hotel, just off Upper Baggot Street in Dublin 2, have taken the step of becoming a pet friendly hotel, and wanted to
show that doggies can use their facilities too!
Their site mentions that "Humans aren’t the only guests treated to all the luxuries that we provide! We allow domesticated pets that are trained and well-behaved!".
One giant leap for animal kind, we at mylunch welcome this great addition to a great 5 star hotel! (Mr Facebook himself Mark Zuckerberg was spotted leaving the hotel just this weekend too...)
The Dylan also state that they go to even more effort to help any pet keepers. "Upon request, we can have your guestroom set up with pet bed, food and water bowls, and treats -- at no extra cost. We also loan pet beds of various sizes, food and water
bowls, and kitty litter boxes. Along with complimentary treats at the front desk, we also provide a pet food menu through room service. We can also arrange for pet sitters, dog walkers, pet spas (all grooming done off property) and veterinary care through our Concierge team."
A "pet friendly menu through room service", now that is something for Rover to get excited about! Well done The Dylan for this great added feature, and if you know anyone who doesn't like to leave their pets at home when they go on holiers, then pass on the news..
Pets are prohibited from entering the bar and restaurant due to health codes (and also how would you ask a cat for ID if he ordered a rum and coke?), but who needs to head to the restaurant when you can get food delivered direct to your room!
Researching this topic (we love our jobs!), we can across the following explanation of pet friendly restaurants: "A pet-friendly restaurant is a restaurant that has an outside seating area, one that's not fully enclosed. The restaurant owner must specify that
pets are allowed on the patio or deck area." So al fresco dining is the order of the day for Fido, but he won't mind! Look at the picture, he's just happy to be included!
We also came across the following tips if you do take the madra to lunch, we particularly like the last one! Oh, and be sure to use our Exclusive Lunch Offer for The Dylan Hotel too! You can't use it with your pet, but why not treat him to a weekend away with you too?
- Make sure your pooch is well-behaved around other people and especially children.
- Leash your four-legged friend and keep him or her from socializing with other diners or employees, unless welcomed.
- Try to keep your dog close to your table or chair so he or she is not in the waiter's path. Dogs are not allowed on the chairs or tables.
- Bring your own doggie bowl or ask the waiter for a paper or plastic bowl or cup for water if necessary. Pets are not permitted to eat or drink out of restaurant glasses or dishes, unless they are disposable.
- Remember to tie your dog to your chair and not a table. A dog tied to a table can result in spilled drinks or food if he or she is strong enough to make the table move.
