Pre and Post Rugby lunch
(Date:28 April 2011)

Munster Rugby

The famous boys in red are welcoming invading English visitors Harlequins over this weekend to Thomond Park, and if you're looking for Limerick lunch options, or even if you're watching the game in good old Corcaigh, we've some of the best of em!

Munster Rugby LogoThe unfamiliar Amlin Challenge Cup is the competition, but the smell and atmosphere of Thomond will be the same once the ball is kicked off at Saturday lunchtime (1pm), and being such vociferous fans, we're darn sure you'll be needing some pre game soakage, and some eh, post match soakage (let's be honest here!)

So, what have we got for you then?

Well, for anyone coming in from Clare or up that way, The Strand Hotel is a regular stopping point, and watering hole. A hub of social activity, and a solid favourite with Munster Supporters pre and post match, the Terrace Cafe Bar in the hotel do a daily special, (example: Roast crown of Turkey with Limerick Baked Ham served with potatoes & vegetables and homemade gravy for €11.95), and the other good news is they also offer you Buy One, Get One Half Price on this daily special, on presentation of our exclusive offer. Stop in before or after the game and you're guaranteed a warm welcome, and have a look at the lunch menu here if you want to save a bit of time too..

Moving in to town a bit more, O Connells on Little Ellen St is, you'll be glad to hear, known for it's great value Guinness, which at €3.30, has also been voted one of the best pints in the country. But as well as that, they open at 9 every morning, to serve up what's also been recognised as one of the best brekkies in the city. (Think Full Irish for less than €8, croissants, danish pastries etc!. With an exclusive mylunch 2 for 1 on lunch during the week, they're also sure to serve up a feast post game, with a superb value bar menu. We're thinking Steak Sandwich for €9.95, and a pint of their famous plain. Shur it's your only man!

Finally for Luimneach, if you're inside in town after the match with a crowd, hopefully celebrating, and looking for something Asian flavoured, then why not try our special group offer at Kudos@The Clarion Hotel on Steamboat Quay? The host goes free for groups of 4 or more, and their €13.95 2 course menu can't be beaten (unlike 'Quins wha?)

If you're stuck in Cork and watching the drama unfold, well why not take a half time break and grab a sambo in O Briens? 2 for 1 on the Rachel Allen selection, so bring along your viewing partner!

Other options include Barrys of Douglas if you're out around that area and looking for a bit of grub, (Buy One, Get One Half Price on their Daily Special), or perhaps a tasty burger might be a good un, Gourmet Burger Bistro have you covered there...

Anyway, all that's left to say is STAND UP AND FIGHT, and here's hoping the two Irish teams can make it through this weekend. Oh, and by the way, anyone remember this famous night when an English team came over and left with tails between legs?

Also, we're expanding rapidly in Munster, so if you've any recommendations for us in your area, do get in touch, you could win free lunch!
